Club América and Cruz Azul will clash in a Liga MX final for a historic fourth time. América and Cruz Azul have met three times in the past, with Las Águilas owning the better record of the two sides.

The first time both teams met in a Liga MX Final was in the 1971-72 Final, which Cruz Azul won 4-1. The second time was in 1988-1989.

The most recent meeting happened in 2013. In that Final, Club América needed a last-minute Moises Muñoz header to send the game to penalties. Las Águilas then went on to win the penalty shootout 4-2 to give Club América their 11th league title.

When it comes to the 2018 Apertura regular season meeting between these two sides, it was in Week 14 and it ended scoreless at the Estadio Azteca.

In total, Club América haven’t lost a game against Cruz Azul since 2014, earning seven wins and four draws in the process.
