Monterrey will be looking to get the bad taste of a Copa MX loss out of their mouth by getting a good result against one of Liga MX’s worst teams. Veracruz is on the bottom of the league with only nine points from 14 games, and are also on the bottom of the relegation table, provided Liga MX will actually have relegation at the end of the Clausura 2019.

Monterrey need to pick up a win to keep pace with the teams around them in the Liguilla places. Monterrey’s crosstown rivals Tigres won 2-0 over 8th placed Monarcas Morelia last night, and leaped over Monterrey in the table. Monterrey are right now in 7th place, and will be looking to pick up all three points and could go as high as 5th in the table, while Veracruz will be looking for any kind of points at this point in the season.

Can Monterrey overcome losing yet another final on their home pitch with a good win over Veracruz? Or will the poor form continue and Monterrey drop points against the worst team in the league? Monterrey should be able to put away Veracruz, but the team could come out with a hangover from the loss and if the team gives up an early goal, the supporters could easily turn.

This could be a match where Monterrey will either put up a ton of goals or will play terrible and drop points, and there will likely not be anything in between. It will be interesting to see which Monterrey team shows up.
