It is everybody’s consensus that Club América is one of the favorites to win the Liga MX title, and on Thursday, they’ll make their 2018 Liga MX Apertura Liguilla debut when they visit Toluca in the First Leg of their Quarterfinals clash.

Though Club América finished the regular season as the second best team, Miguel Herrera’s men know they must improve tenfold if they plan on lifting the title. Las Águilas arrive to this match going unbeaten in their last 11 Liga MX matches but drew three of their last four going into this Liguilla.

Toluca, on the other hand, carry very little momentum with them into the Quarterfinals. The Diablos Rojos have just one win in their last five Liga MX matches and only qualified to the Liguilla on the very last week of the regular season.

América and Toluca last met in the Liguilla in the 2013 Liga MX Apertura, series which ended 3-2 in Las Águilas’s favor. The Mexico City side lost the First Leg 2-1 at the Estadio Nemesio Diez before going on on to win the tie at the Estadio Azteca. Will history repeat itself?
