The best time of the Liga MX season is finally here. Week 18 of the Liga MX Apertura finished Querétaro’s 1-0 win over Necaxa deciding the last berth, and Pumas UNAM’s 1-1 draw with Santos Laguna determining each team’s final positioning in the table.

This semester’s Liga MX season has been highlighted by league leaders Cruz Azul. The Cementeros are trying for their first Liga MX title since 1997 and will face a tricky Quarterfinals matchup versus Querétaro.

Meanwhile, Club América and Tigres UANL are not looking like overwhelming favorites like in the past, though the latter finished the regular season in strong fashion. América and Tigres will face Toluca and Pumas respectively.

But what quietly has the potential to be the most intriguing matchup should be Santos Laguna versus Monterrey. Santos arrive to this Liguilla as the defending champions and will be taking on a Monterrey team that has struggled with injuries throughout the Apertura seasons.

Dates and times for each corresponding matchup are TBD.

2018 Liga MX Apertura Liguilla:

1. Cruz Azul vs. 8. Querétaro

2. Club América vs. 7. Deportivo Toluca
