It’s Argentina vs Mexico, Part 2. After La Albiceleste earned a comfortable 2-0 win in the first game, both teams are set to meet again in their final international friendly of 2018.
For interim coach Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, it’s the end of the line. His second stint with the Mexico national team has been a disaster, but he has one final chance to go out in style against a Messi-less Argentina.
“Tuca” will have to do it without part of his European contingent, as Guillermo Ochoa, Miguel Layun and Raul Jimenez have all been excused to return back with their respective clubs. Meanwhile, Nestor Araujo picked up a knock and will also be unavailable for El Tri.
Argentina remains a stone in Mexico’s shoe and arrive to this game having gone unbeaten in their last eight against the North Americans. Messi or not, chances are that’s unlikely to change in what thankfully is the last “molero” of the year. Bring on 2019.
