Mexico National Team forward Hirving “Chucky” Lozano will not play against Argentina because of a hamstring injury, the Mexican Federation announced on Sunday. Lozano was injured in PSV Eindhoven’s 4-1 victory over De Graafschap.

Chucky becomes El Tri’s second player to be ruled out after Santos Laguna defender Jesus Angulo had to be replaced by Cruz Azul’s Julio Cesar Dominguez following a hand injury. As opposed to Angulo, no replacement was called for Lozano.
A fan favorite, the 23-year-old had been a key part in Mexico’s last few games. Moreover, Lozano’s injury comes as a big blow for Mexico interim coach Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who will be in charge of a squad already suffering of a number of key veteran absences like Hector Herrera, Andres Guardado, and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.
Mexico are set to play a Messi-less Argentina twice, in Cordoba on November 16 and four days later in Mendoza.
