Mexico got their second win of their Four-Nation U-17 Tournament, as they defeated the United States 2-0 on Friday. After beating Chile in their debut on Thursday (3-1), Mexico got their second straight victory and sit now on six points. The Four-Nations Tournament is being hosted in Mexico City. Chile, United States and Argentina are the other teams besides the host. Mexico will try to extend their winning streak after winning the 2016 and 2017 edition. They will face Argentina on Sunday.

Mexico started their tournament facing Chile on Thursday. The young El Tri side came up on top with a 3-1 win. Leonardo Correa, Bryan Gonzalez and Efrain Alvarez scored for Mexico, while Alexander Oroz was Chile’s goalscorer. The good debut was followed by Thursday’s victory over the United States with goals by Israel Luna and Eugenio Pizzuto. The win puts Mexico on top of the Group with 6 points but waiting for the result between Argentina and Chile.

The United States, who lost 2-1 against Argentina in their debut, is eliminated from the tournament. Depending of the score between Argentina and Chile, Mexico might directly play for victory in the tournament against Argentina. Should Chile win, they will be dependent on the US vs Chile result, as well as their performance against Argentina. Unfortunately, like 2017 and unlike the 2016 tournament, it’s not being broadcast live in the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR), the national team facilities where the tournament is being held.
