It was a historic Wednesday for Mexicans abroad in the Champions League, as Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, Hector Herrera, and Jesus Manuel “Tecatito” Corona all scored goals in their respective matches.

Hirving Lozano - PSV Eindhoven

Hirving “Chucky” Lozano had another splendid outing in the Champions League, scoring his first Champions League goal in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. With the score 2-1 in favor of the London-side, Lozano was also on the end of a red card to Hugo Lloris, which paved the way for a late PSV equalizer.

Unfortunately, fellow Mexican Erick Gutierrez was an unused sub.

Hector Herrera & Jesus Manuel Corona - FC Porto

Hector Herrera and Jesus Manuel “Tecatito” Corona played a huge part in FC Porto’s 3-1 win over Lokomotiv Moscow. First, the Mexican pair combined for FC Porto’s second goal of the night before Tecatito put the game away early in the second half with superb finish. FC Porto now lead Group D of the Champions League with seven points.

Diego Reyes - Fenerbahce

On to the Europa League, where Diego Reyes played all 90 minutes in Fenerbahce’s 2-2 draw with Anderlecht. The Turkish giants were able to overcome a 2-0 first half deficit to get their fourth point of the campaign. Currently, Fenerbahce are second of Group D with four points.

Miguel Layun - Villarreal

Miguel Layun played all 90 minutes in Villarreal’s 5-0 thrashing of Rapid Wien. The Yellow Submarine was dominant from start to finish, scoring three times in the first half to run away with their first European victory of the campaign.

Guillermo Ochoa - Standard Liege

Guillermo Ochoa played a key part in his team’s 2-1 win over FC Krasnodar. Memo made some huge saves in the first half, as his team took a healthy 1-0 lead into the break. But the Belgian side needed a very late winner after Krasnodar scored arguably one of the goals of the season in the 46th minute. Despite the win, Liege is tied in points with both Sevilla and Krasnodar at the top of Group J.
