Club fútbol in Europe is back after the international break. Let’s take a trip across the old world and see how our guys did. Unfortunately, this week there is only a bit of good news to report and a whole lot of bad. I will start with the bad and try to end on a positive note.

Nestor Araujo-Celta Vigo

He did not play and also not on the bench.

Miguel Layun-Villarreal

He did not play and was left on the bench.

Omar Govea-Royal Antwerp

He did not play and was left on the bench.

Diego Reyes-Fenerbahce

He did not play and was left on the bench.

Andres Guardado-Real Betis

He did not play and was left on the bench.

Marco Fabian and Carlos Salcedo-Eintracht Frankfurt

Chicharito overcame his viral illness and was back on the bench for the game vs Tottenham. He came into the game in the 57th minute, but like his whole team, he could not get anything going. West Ham lost the game 1-0.

Raul Jimenez-Wolverhampton

Raul was in the starting 11 like usual. He was lively in attack and tried to create opportunities for his attacking teammates, but the Watford defense closed every inch of space down. Wolverhampton could not get anything going offensively. Raul was substituted in the 60th minute. Wolverhampton lost the game 2-0 and are in ninth place in the Premier League.

Carlos Uriel Antuna-FC Groningen

Antuna was finally given the chance to start for Groningen this week as they visited Heracles. It has been a long time coming as he was left on the bench most of the season, only playing sporadic minutes. There was not much Antuna could do to help his team and they were overrun 4-1.

Guillermo Ochoa-Standard Liege

Standard Liege visited Royal Excel Mouscron this week, and Memo was the starting goalkeeper as usual. There was not much for him to do, as Mouscron barely got past midfield. Liege dominated the game but could not put the ball in the back of the net. The game ended 0-0 and Liege is fifth in the league.

Hirving Lozano & Erick Gutierrez-PSV Eindhoven

This week PSV Einhoven received a visit from Emmen, looking to stay top of the league. Lozano was a starter and Guti was on the bench. PSV came ready to play and right away they trapped Emmen in their own half. By halftime, the score was already 4-0. Lozano contributed with two assists.

Guti was brought on after the break, and in the 79th minute, after a series of shots and rebounds, Guti got a good bounce and put the ball in the top corner of the net.

In the 88th minute, Chucky made a long run up the left wing, got a great pass from Donyell Malen and finished with a potent shot that ended up in the back of the net. It was the cherry on top of the cake.

PSV won the game 6-0 and continues in first place, 5 points ahead of Ajax. They receive Tottenham later this week in the Champions League.
