Amaury Escoto scored an early contender for goal of the season as Lobos BUAP earned a shock victory over Chivas, beating the defending champions 2-1 at the Estadio Chivas.
The Liga MX newcomers took a first half lead when Luis Advincula took advantage of a deflected shot inside the box to fire the visitors into the lead.
A second half surge from Chivas, however, including the return of Alan Pulido from a serious shoulder injury, finished with Rodolfo Pizarro placing a long range effort into the back of the net.
After surviving a downpour of Chivas attacks, Amaury Escoto scored the goal of the game and possibly the season. With five minutes to go in the game, Escoto unleashed a phenomenal overhead kick from the edge of the box to give Rafa Puente Jr’s men all three points.
The goal proved massive as the result lifts Lobos BUAP into the top-half of the table, while Chivas sit 12th with just nine points.
