It is no secret Jurgen Damm has aspirations to play in Europe. He also has the advantage of already having a German passport by way of his paternal grandfather's German nationality. This gives him more flexibility to play in a European league as he will not take up a "foreign player" slot in many leagues. During the Mexico vs Ireland friendly, Univision announcers revealed the 2 offers currently on the table for him this summer, Chivas or West Ham.
The LigaMX champions are offering $13m for his full rights but Damm wants to play in Europe. Unfortunately, West Ham is only offering $5.8m for 70% of his rights. Tigres would like a complete transfer this summer and $13m is a lot more than $5.8m or the $8.3m West Ham are valuing Damm at. Tigres are a loaded squad but they have high wage earners and would prefer getting more than the reported $8m they paid for Damm 2 years ago. Unlike other leagues, player movement within Mexico is limited to a couple of days when front office members meet for a “draft”. Look for this issue to be resolved sooner rather than later.
Do you think Tigres will let him leave at a discount to Europe?
