MLS: Pachuca at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

For both Pachuca and Club America it is a do or die match as they face off at the Estadio Azteca for a place in the “Fiesta Grande” of Liga MX.

An end of the season slump has Club America within a defeat of likely missing out on the Liguilla for the first time in 13 seasons. Ricardo La Volpe’s men looked set to be among the top eight of the competition, but two straight defeats, including one to Atlas last week at the Estadio Azteca, has the azulcremas in a precarious position.

The math for Club America is a lot simpler than Pachuca’s, though. A win or a draw would seal las Aguilas a place in the Liguilla, while the Tuzos need to beat Club America by two goals or more and hope either Tigres or Monarcas Morelia fail to win their respective game.

The Tuzos certainly have enough firepower, but have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net all season. In fact, they are the lowest scoring team in the league with just 13 goals scored.

If there is some silver lining in playing Club America at the Azteca for Pachuca it is that they have an impressive record there in recent meetings. The Tuzos have won in three of their last four visits to the "Coloso de Santa Úrsula".

Of course, if Club America are to fail to reach the Liguilla, it may well be the last game for Ricardo La Volpe in front of las Aguilas. In that regard, all the pressure is on the “Bigoton” and his team to get a positive result against the recently crowned CCL Champions.
