Tijuana (8W 4D 3L) already has their tickets punched to the Liguilla, however a win would guarantee them winning their second consecutive superlider. Veracruz (7W 0D 9L) on the other hand could make the playoffs with a win and losses by Tigres, Morelia, and Pachuca.
Club Tijuana
Xolos are looking to rebound after a tough road loss to Tigres last week. The loss spoiled Miguel Herrera’s return from a five match ban. Xolos looked rather flat against Tuca Ferretti’s side, as Tijuana was unable to mount much of an offensive threat. Avilés Hurtado was isolated to great effect last time out, so look for Veracruz to attempt to do the same. Hurtado is currently in a four way tie for top goalscorer in Liga MX with Matías Alustiza, Oribe Peralta, and Raúl Ruidíaz.
Veracruz
Technically Veracruz could still be relegated. If Veracruz loses, Morelia and Chiapas both win, and Chiapas can make up a 12 goal differential with Veracruz. Staggering odds indeed, but anything is possible in Liga MX. Los Tiburones Rojo have won two straight so they should not be underestimated. Eduardo Lalo Herrera leads the team with three goals, however the team is more likely to play to a 1-0 result than one with a higher scoreline. Veracruz has only scored three goals twice this year and has only given up three or more on two occasions as well. Ex-Xolo Cristian Pellerano now wears the red and white of Veracruz, having been loaned out this season by Club América.
