We’re collecting all of the stories here [https://www.sbnation.com/why-we-are-fans] and featuring the best ones across our network as well. Come Fan With Us!

To get things started, here is a little bit of why I’m a fan of the Mexican national team. Why am I a Mexico fan? Because as far as six-year-old me was concerned, everything I knew about soccer led back to Mexico. Every Sunday after church, the one thing consistently on television was Liga MX. MLS wasn't around and catching a European league match on TV was a rarity in my house. Everyone in the family had their team and favorite players. My dad was a Pumas fan but many were Chivas fans. While my relatives could never agree on who was the best team, there was one team they all rooted for. And that team wore a green kit.

When the 1994 World Cup came around, that Mexico squad was everywhere. I felt like they were on during every commercial break for my mom's telenovelas. The games were must see and it was the first time I was truly invested in a sporting event. Sure, Mexico lost in the round of 16, but that squad won me over. Now, I watch every game. Even the dreaded moleros. Why? Because my love for El Tri is already two decades deep and it's just getting started.

So now we want to hear from you. Why are you a Mexico fan? If you’ve been through the thick and think, through the “dos a cero”s and “no era penal”s, we want to hear why you proudly flaunt the green of the Mexico national team. Was it that one player that made all the difference for you growing up? Cuauhtemoc Blanco perhaps or was it Jorge Campos? Do you still jump out of your seat when you watch replays of Giovani dos Santos chipping the ball over Tim Howard at the Rose Bowl? Does Rafa Marquez have you believing in immortality? We’d love to know why you share the same passion as I do for El Tri, the biggest team in all of CONCACAF. Sorry Stars and Stripes FC...
