Coach Juan Carlos Osorio announced a 32-man squad on Tuesday for the next two Mexico friendlies and World Cup qualifiers.

As expected, the squad is headed by Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Jesus “Tecatito” Corona, and Andres Guardado among others .

38-year-old injured captain Rafael Marquez was a surprise inclusion, although it is expected his fitness status will be evaluated prior to next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

Mexico plays Croatia in Los Angeles on May 27, and then against Ireland four days later in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. Following the conclusion of these games, Osorio will cut the squad down to 23 players, which will compete in June’s World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and the United States, and subsequently the Confederations Cup.
