Morelia won the first leg 1-0 at home. Tijuana will need to win by a goal in order to advance. Morelia can draw or win in order to advance.
Club Tijuana
Tijuana didn’t play their best game against Monterrey on Wednesday. Miguel Herrera’s side will need to get Aviles Hurtado more involved in the play. The Colombian has been Xolos best player this year, but was largely held in check by Morelia’s defense. Xolos’ home field will come into play, as it is bigger than Morelia’s and will force Monarcas to open up a bit. The artificial turf will also help with increasing the pace of the game, which again should benefit Tijuana’s high-flying offensive style.
Monarcas Morelia
The big news is that Morelia’s Raul Ruidiaz will most likely miss the next three to four months for the Grade II sprain he suffered to his left MCL against Tijuana.

Losing the Liga MX’s leading scorer is a massive blow to Morelia, however at least against Tijuana they don’t need to worry about scoring if they can keep Xolos off of the scoresheet. The trick will be being defensively sound against the only team to score 30 goals in the 2017 Clausura - especially when they need a goal to advance.
