In a rematch between the two teams involved in one of the matches that caused Liga MX to shut down, Tijuana (5W 3D 3L) will be back in the friendly confines of Estadio Caliente tonight to host Club América (5W 2D 4L). With just six matches left in the season, both Xolos and América are looking to add points and secure a spot in the Liguilla.

Club Tijuana

Xolos broke out of a bit of a goal scoring drought, scoring three goals for the first time since their February 19th match against Pumas. Avilés Hurtado had two goals, one of which was a crazy bicycle kick golazo that’s been touted as the goal of the year already.

It wasn’t all smiles though, as Jorge Ortiz was sent off in the 72nd minute and will miss the match. If Guido Rodriguez is healthy, he’ll go in his place.

Club América

América is currently in seventh place, however they’ve won the last two games straight since losing to TIjuana in the Copa MX. The club will be without Pablo Aguilar, who is still serving his year-long ban, as well as possibly being without Paraguayan forward Cecilio Domínguez, who left last week’s match against Monterrey in the 24th minute. The good news for Las Águilas fans is that it’s still América, and they’ve still got a team full of good players. Oribe Peralta is still a dangerous threat going forward, and America has a budding star in Diego Lainez, a 16 year old midfielder who has been compared favorably to Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.
