Diego de Buen’s last minute finish carried Santos Laguna closer to a spot in the Liguilla as the Guerreros saw off Club America 2-1 at the Estadio Corona.
After a goalless first half that saw Agustin Marchesin shine against his former team, the first goal didn’t arrive until eight minutes from time when Jonathan Rodriguez latched on to a Jorge Sanchez cross to fire Santos Laguna into the lead.

Santos Laguna were then forced to absorb immediate Club America pressure, and las Aguilas’ brief persistence paid off when they leveled five minutes later. Michael Arroyo lashed a hopeful corner into the box for Oribe Peralta, who made no mistake with a towering header to level the score at a goal a piece.

With the deal seemingly done and the game tied at 1-1, to the disbelief of America coach Ricardo La Volpe, a throw-in found itself into the box for Ulises Rivas. The youngster then laid the ball of for Diego de Buen, and with literally the last kick of the game, De Buen smashed the ball into the back of the net to give Santos Laguna a thrilling victory at home.
