Some say it is the biggest game in Mexico. Certainly, it is among the most passionate in the world. The Clásico Regiomontano takes center stage this Saturday as Monterrey host rivals Tigres at the Estadio BBVA Bancomer.

Monterrey arrive to this game virtually a win a way from clinching a place in the Liguilla. After a horrid 2016 Apertura, Antonio “Turco” Mohamed’s men have found consistency in the last few months, and thanks to one of the most talented frontlines in all of Mexico, Rayados look once again to be the contenders many predicted they would be this season.

Against Tigres, Rayados will think of this as a genuine opportunity spoil the party for Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti and his pupils. While there is no denying Tigres possess the most talented squad in the league, the defending champs have struggled and currently sit ninth in the league, one point away from Liguilla positions.

Spurred by consecutive wins, however, Tigres perhaps arrive to this Clásico in their best shape yet, but a defeat here could prove costly, as the fight for those final spots looks to be among the tightest in recent seasons.

Tigres also have the CONCACAF Champions League Final return leg to worry about in four days, and that could play in Monterrey’s favor, especially considering Tigres have put a large emphasis on winning their first international title.

At the end of the day, this is one of the must-watch games of the season. In terms of atmosphere, clash of styles, and international talent, this is the best Liga MX has to offer.
