Marco Fabian scored twice as Eintracht Frankfurt earned a 3-1 win over FC Augsburg on Saturday.
Frankfurt dominated the early proceedings and thereafter, keeping an impressive 74% possession of the ball, but were left exposed in the ninth minute when Jeffrey Gouweleeuw fired the visitors into the lead.
Frankfurt continued to dominate the tempo, but made only a few real chances at goal. It wasn’t until the 78th minute that Marco Fabian reinvigorated the the hosts with a short range header to put things at 1-1.
Freed from the pressure of finding an equalizer, Fabian then completed the comeback when he smashed in a ricocheted shot into the back of the net for his second goal of the evening.
With the three points seemingly in the bag, Ante Rebic added to Augsburg’s woes by adding a third in stoppage time.
Marco Fabian has now scored six goals this season, and today’s double marks his third consecutive game with a goal for the “Eagles”.
