With just three games left in the Clausura, Tijuana (7W 4D 3L) and Toluca (8W 2D 4L) are both jockeying for position in the Superlider. However as Tijuana proved in the Apertura, winning the Superlider guarantees nothing in the Liguilla.

Club Tijuana

Xolos have won two straight and haven’t lost in Liga MX since March 3rd against Pachuca. They have the Liga MX’s leading goalscorer in Avilés Hurtado and a defense that has allowed one goal in the last three games. With confidence running high, Xolos are a team that most clubs don’t want to face - especially when you have to travel 1,400 miles (2,260 kilometers) to do so.

Toluca

Always a formidable opponent, Toluca comes in winners of four of their last five Liga MX matches. Their lone loss during that stretch was against lowly Cruz Azul, so they are not invincible. Former Xolo Gabriel Hauche got the goal that tied their last match against Monterrey, and he and Fernando Uribe are usually paired up top for Los Diablos Rojos. Uribe leads the club with four goals on the season. Toluca’s best asset however may be their defense, lead by goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera. Tala and the Diablos Rojos have given up just 14 goals in 14 games this year, good for fifth best in Liga MX.
