Club America remain unbeaten at home with 1-0 win over Queretaro

Club America moved a step closer to the Liguilla as Silvio Romero fired las Aguilas to 1-0 victory over Queretaro.

Ricardo La Volpe’s side has looked unbeatable at the Estadio Azteca this season, as they have failed to concede a goal in every one of their matches at the "Coloso de Santa Úrsula".

Silvio Romero should have put the hosts ahead in the 30th minute when he fired in a Paul Aguilar cross in a superb fashion, only to have the goal called back for an apparent offside.

But Romero struck again in the 43rd minute. This time, Romero weaved his way onto the edge of the box before connecting with Michael Arroyo and lobbing the ball above Tiago Volpi to fire the hosts into the lead.

In the second half, Queretaro pressed for an equalizer, with coach Jimmy Lozano opting to bring on three attackers in Edgar Benitez, Emanuel Villa, and Yerson Candelo.

At the end, however, Club America’s defense kept out Queretaro’s best efforts as Club America held on to earn their fifth win in their last six games.
