It’s by far the most engaging tie of Week 14 in Liga MX — Pachuca play host to Chivas at the Estadio Hidalgo.
The big question heading into this match is what version of Pachuca will we see? The 2016 Clausura champions are lingering dangerously in eighth place and need to start earning points fast if they plan on making this season’s Liguilla. Diego Alonso’s side has entered a bit of a league slump in recent weeks, going a total of four games without a win.
Chivas, on there hand, arrive to this match following a 3-0 thumping at the hands of Andre-Pierre Gignac and Tigres. Despite a hefty defeat to the Champions, Matias Almeyda’s side finds itself in second place with 24 points and fighting for the “superliderato” with Toluca. Here, the Rebaño will know that a win may well move them to the top of the league table and technically seal them a place in the Liguilla in the process.
That said, winning in Hidalgo has became an almost impossible task for opposing teams. Pachuca has gone an incredible 27 straight league games without a defeat at home.
Generally speaking, games between Pachuca and Chivas are must-watch games. In fact, there has been at least three goals scored in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams. Expect both teams to go at it on Saturday.
