After a goalless draw with Xolos de Tijuana, Club America return to the Estadio Azteca to take on Necaxa.

Las Aguilas face a generous run of games in which four of their last five games of the season are at the Estadio Azteca. Given that, Club America have no excuse for not making this season’s Liguilla. Currently, the azulcremas sit seventh in the table with 18 points earned and have not lost at the Estadio Azteca this season.

Necaxa, on the other hand, have been but a shadow of what they once were in the 2016 Apertura. Last season’s surprise team is penultimate in the league table, and if it weren’t for the marvelous campaign they put together in 2016, they would be struggling to even stay in Liga MX.

Coincidentally, the last time both these teams met at the Estadio Azteca was in last season’s semifinals, where Las Aguilas progressed to the final with a convincing 2-0 win.
