It is now or never for the champions as Tigres play host to Chivas at the Estadio Universitario.

With five games to go in the season, every match from here on out is a must-win for the regiomontanos. As of today, the defending Liga MX champs are 12th in the league table and five points from a Liguilla place. Given that, there is little room for error for Ricardo “Tuca” Ferreti’s side, who against Chivas will be facing one of the finest sides in all of Mexico.

The Rebaño Sagrado arrive on the back of a spectacular 3-2 comeback win over Puebla and currently sit second in the table with 24 points. It is arguable Chivas play the best fútbol in the league, which is why this makes for this clash as one of the most intriguing from this round’s midweek action.

Beyond on the field narratives, however, one of the storylines to follow is Alan Pulido’s return to the Estadio Universitario. This will mark the first time Pulido returns to el “Volcan” after his controversial departure from Tigres back in 2014 and can expect a crude reception from the home crowd.

Pulido is Chivas’ leading goalscorer with five goals. A goal here would be extra special for the former Tigres renegade.
