Chivas and Monarcas Morelia frustrated fans and neutrals with a goalless draw at the Estadio Morelos.
Penultimate in the relegation table, Monarcas did not look like a side fighting for Liga MX survival, as they held well against a Chivas side that tried to raise the tempo from the very first minute.
After a quiet first half, though, Morelia made a bright start when Diego Valdes smashed a free-kick into the woodwork.
Thereafter, Chivas struggled to impose themselves, and not even the attacking substitution of Eduardo “La Chofis” Lopez helped improve the product on the field.
Morelia, on the other hand, also failed to add any clear openings and a 0-0 seemed a fair result at the end of the game.
Next, both teams face Copa MX matchups during the midweek, with Monarcas Morelia taking on Cruz Azul and Chivas doing the same against Monterrey in the semifinals of the competition.
