Cecilio Dominguez the hero as Club America triumph over Pumas UNAM in Clasico Capitalino

Cecilio Dominguez was Club America’s matchwinner in an entertaining 3-2 win over rivals Pumas UNAM on Sunday.

Silvio Romero put Club America ahead just after the half-hour mark when he gathered an Oribe Peralta through ball to fire past Alfredo Saldivar.

Peralta then struck a second at the stroke of halftime. An Osmar Mares pass dropped to the Mexican international, who weaved his way into space before pushing in the second goal of the afternoon.

But Pumas responded well after the break as Nicolas Castillo connected with a Jose Van Rankin cross to pull Francisco Palencia’s men within one.

Pumas were leveled within 15 minutes. Pablo Barrera snatched the ball from Osmar Mares in a breakaway before laying the ball for the incoming Nicolas Castillo. Castillo then swept the ball behind Agustin Marchesin, who could have done better to prevent Pumas’ equalizer.

With eight minutes to go on the clock, Cecilio Dominguez dribbled his way superbly past several Pumas defenders, beating Saldivar to spark the celebrations among the Club America faithful.
