Cecilio Dominguez continued his scoring streak in league play in Club America’s 2-0 win over Monarcas Morelia. The goal by Dominguez gave a much needed 1-0 lead to las Aguilas at the 69 mark.

Darwin Quintero set the play for Dominguez by sending a shot from the center of the penalty area. Quintero’s shot bounced off Carlos Rodriguez’s hands and skidded to the right of the post. Dominguez, however, tipped the ball in with his right foot.

William Da Silva almost made the score 2-0 with a shot from outside the area just a few minutes later, but Edson Alvarez increased Morelia’s deficit.

Showing up once more, Quintero set a pass to the middle of the low area for Edson Alvarez to target. Facing one defender and the goalkeeper, Alvarez placed the ball just far enough to the left to come away with the score.

The win for America gave las Aguilas their second consecutive win and brought their point total to six. Morelia, who faces relegation, stayed at five points.

America faces their former goalkeeper, Moises Munoz, in an away game at Chiapas Tuesday night. The match against Chiapas makes up for Club America’s Jornada 1 match.
