This, of course, is a big deal. For a long time now, Liga MX has consistently been the most-watched futbol league in the United States. However, where Liga MX has lagged behind is in implementing an English-language platform tailored towards fans in the United States.
The announcement couldn’t come at a better time. This week is Clásico Nacional week, which likely means fans in the United States will get to enjoy Chivas vs. Club America for the first time in English via Facebook Live.
As the press release mentions, Univision owns the rights f 17 of the 18 teams in the league. Undoubtedly, this is a move in the right direction, and the hope now is this translates to a more overarching English-language coverage of the league.
