Yasser Corona released from hospital

Amid an outpouring of support, the Xolos center back will begin his rehabilitation at home.

According to a press release, Yasser Corona has been released from the hospital and is beginning his rehabilitation at home. The 29 year old center back had been in a Tijuana hospital following surgery to repair damage to his sixth cervical vertabrae suffered during a horrific accident during Tijuana's Copa MX match against Correcaminos UAT on January 31. Corona had been relased from intensive care on February 2, but had still been hospitalized.

There has been an outpouring of support for Corona both from his teammates as well as from clubs in Mexico and the United States as well. Jaguares had this tribute for Corona prior to their match against Club América on Tuesday (note the empty space in front of Félix Araujo and Juan Patiño).

The LA Galaxy displayed a #FuerzaYasser graphic on their scoreboard during warmups before their friendly against Xolos on Tuesday night.

Corona most likely has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him, as the surgery performed on him involved attaching a metal plate to his spine with four screws. We at FMF State of Mind continue to wish Yasser, his family, and his friends and teammates all the best and hope for a speedy recovery.
