For a spot in the Club World Cup Final, Pachuca will look to make history when they take on Copa Libertadores champions Gremio.
Pachuca arrive on the back of tough game against Wydad Casablanca, in which the Tuzos needed a late goal from Victor Guzman to progress.
For starters, a Mexican team has never been able to make a Club World Cup Final. This will be only the second time Pachuca play at this stage of the tournament, and the last time they reached the final four it ended in heartbreak against LDUQ in 2008.
Of course, Gremio will be no easy task for the Tuzos, but the good news is that they have an impressive record against Brazilian teams. In four games against Brasileirao clubs, Pachuca have three triumphs and just one defeat.
In Gremio’s last game, the Brazilians played to a thrilling 4-3 defeat against rivals Atletico Mineiro. By all standards, though, Gremio’s domestic campaign was a successful one, finishing in fourth only behind champions Corinthians, Palmeiras and Santos. Pachuca will need to be at their A-game if they want to be the first Liga MX team to make a Club World Cup Final.
