There’s no better way to finish the 2017 Apertura regular season than with the Clasico Regio between Monterrey and Tigres.

As fate would have it, this edition of the Clasico Regio is not only for bragging rights but for first place in the league table.

For Monterrey, this game is extra special. Antonio “Turco” Mohamed’s men arrive on the back of a win over Club America in the Copa MX semifinals, and victory over Tigres would make for perfect week for the Rayados.

Tigres, though, are making a tradition out of starting the season slow and ending it as the best team in Mexico. Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti and his squad have been on a roll lately, and win or lose, they will be considered one of the big favorites to win it all in the Liguilla.

Considering the talent that will be on display, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both of these teams face off again in the Liguilla. For the city of Monterrey, a Tigres vs Rayados final would be a dream come true. This might be just the appetizer for things to come.
