Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente press release

One day after mutually parting ways with manager Eduardo Coudet, Club Tijuana announced that U20s coach Diego Torres would be the club’s interim manager through the end of the 2017 Liga MX Apertura. Coudet and his entire coaching staff left the club on October 30 amid rumors of players not being paid for almost two months and a divided locker room.

According to a press release, Torres “will have Raul Chabrand and Frankie Oviedo as his assistants. Raziel Alba will be the team’s fitness coach.” Torres began his coaching career with Xolos in 2010 “from the third division to the Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 categories and most recently the Under-20 squad.” He also served a stint as the head coach of Dorados de Sinaloa in 2014. Prior to this, Torres had a 12 year playing career in Mexico, playing the last three years of his career with Xolos.

Torres will get his first test with Xolos when they face off against rivals León Friday, November 3 in Tijuana.
