Eduardo Coudet officially out in Tijuana

Mere months after taking the job, Club Tijuana confirms Chacho has left.

Eduardo “Chacho” Coudet looks on during a Tijuana match. Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente press release

Per a press release, Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles has confirmed that coach Eduardo Coudet and his coaching staff have “mutually ended their working relationship as of Monday.” It lists no motives for the move and releases no names other than Coudet’s, so it is unclear who on Coudet’s staff - if anyone at all - has remained with the club.

This notification comes after hours of speculation around Coudet and Xolos, with allegations of non-payment of players and staff being central to the sudden departure of Coudet. While Xolos had not performed as well as many thought they should have, especially considering the roster Coudet had put together in a short amount of time, the allegations seemed to come out of nowhere but were suddenly everywhere.

As of this writing, no one has been named interim manager. Xolos are scheduled to play rivals León on Friday at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, and it will be interesting to see the reaction from the players and fans alike.
