Chivas earned a second win in four games when Jesus “Chapo” Sanchez’s 28th minute goal gave them a deserved 1-0 Liga MX victory at Queretaro.

Matias Almeyda’s side had undeservedly been defeated by Xolos de Tijuana last week, but against Queretaro appeared as favorites to take all three points.

After the hosts began with some belief, it was the visitors’ improved confidence that began to show.

In the 28th minute, from a superb Orbelin Pineda pass, Chapo Sanchez weaved his way into the area before firing in the go-ahead goal.

The break brought some improvement from Queretaro, and amid the growing pressure, Camilo Sanvezzo came close leveling the score when he failed to direct a header goal-bound from point-blank range.

Yerson Candelo followed when his effort smashed into the woodwork.

Eduardo “La Chofis” Lopez came close to doubling the lead when he broke free on a breakaway before falling to deliver the final ball for an easy goal.

At the end, though, Chivas’ resistance held on to earn all three points away from home.
