After 119 days and more than 1,400 minutes without a goal, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez finally broke his scoring duck on Saturday as Bayer Leverkusen fell 3-2 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Chicharito’s long-awaited goal arrived in the first half when he headed home from a set-piece in the 34th minute, adding only his sixth goal in the 2016/2017 campaign.
In addition to scoring, Chicharito went all 90 minutes for the Werkself, although it wasn’t all good news for Chicharito and Bayer Leverkusen. Previously, Bayer Leverkusen had taken the lead through Jonathan Tah, but they went on to concede three unanswered goals in the second half to lose the match 3-2.
With the result, Bayer Leverkusen find themselves six points away from a European position with 18 games already played this Bundesliga season. Chicharito and Bayer Leverkusen next step on the pitch against Hamburger SV on Friday.
