Per a press release, Club Tijuana announced today they had signed Jorge "El Marciano (The Martian)" Ortiz from Argentina's Club Atletico Independiente "for the LIGA MX 2017 Clausura season." It is not immediately known if Ortiz comes to Xolos as a loan or on a transfer.

The 32 year old central midfielder got his start with Argentine giants San Lorenzo in 2004, where he stayed until 2008 (with a year stint with Arsenal de Sarandi in 2006-07 in the middle). He has also featured for AIK Solna in Sweden, as well as Lanús and Independiente in his native Argentina, amassing 26 goals in 408 games across the two countries.

Expect Ortiz to serve as cover for fellow Argentine Guido Rodríguez as well as Mexican-American Alejandro Guido. The press release also notes "Ortiz joins Club Tijuana as the fifth addition for the 2017 Clausura, joining Joe Corona, Juan Pablo Meza, Luis Michel and Martin Lucero."
