After Mexico played 2 World Cup Qualifiers missing several attacking players, Giovani Dos Santos showed why JCO should take a look his way. The Barcelona product was coming off scoring his tenth MLS goal in the Galaxy’s last game. Tonight, he added 2 more and even threw in an assist early on. Through 24 games, Gio now has 12 goals and 3 assists, 1 G+A every 133mins.

This early goal gave the Galaxy the lead but RSL would tie it up early in the second half. Luckily, Gio was able to give them another lead with a 7 minute brace.

The Galaxy would give up the lead in the 93rd minute and only take away 1 point. Gio played in his preferred withdrawn forward position and thrived. He went the full 90 minutes and was one of the most influential players on the field.
JCO has said he has players ahead of Gio at the forward position and he sees Gio more as a winger. A pair of meaningless games presented JCO with a great chance to bring in Gio to see what he has to offer. Those circumstances make it puzzling to see who was called up at forward instead of Gio this past week. Say what you will about MLS but I think Gio would have been a better option than the attackers JCO was left with after injuries. Something tells me Gio wont be with the national team until a coaching change is made.
Is Gio done with El Tri? Do you want to see him get called up?
