Chivas has a tall order in getting three points when hosting league leader Tigres at the Estadio Chivas on Tuesday night.
After a dismal first half against Toluca cost them points in a 2-1 defeat, Matias Almeyda and company have the chance to right the ship at home. If anything, this bodes well for El Rebaño as they are undefeated at home with five goals in favor and only two conceded. With that said, Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti’s men have yet to take a loss this Liga MX Apertura.
The starting back line that included Hedgardo Marín and Juan Miguel Basulto had trouble containing Toluca on Saturday afternoon’s loss. The squad will receive a boost in the form of a returning Jair Pereira who’s been sidelined from previous matches with an injury.
Tigres has yet to concede a goal on the road and is just coming off a 2-1 victory over Puebla. Ferretti’s men are sitting one point ahead of second-place Tijuana and five points ahead of Chivas.
The last time these two clubs met in Liga MX play was in January during the 2016 Clausura in a 2-2 draw. Chivas also hosted that game but had to come from behind with a Carlos Cisneros 73rd minute strike to tie it.
At the moment, both teams seem poised to enter la Liguilla, but neither looks to lose this primetime clash.
