At long last, UEFA Champion’s League action returns with PSV Eindhoven hosting Atlético Madrid at the Philips Stadion in the first group stage game.

The initial clash should be a tight affair if last year’s round of 16 draw was anything to go by: Atlético advanced by beating PSV narrowly 8-7 on penalties after both legs went scoreless in regulation and extra time.

The defending Dutch Eredivisie champs currently sit second in their table domestically while Los Colchoneros sit seventh in La Liga. Diego Simeone was able to guide his side to another UCL final last season but had the ultimate prize escape their grasp again to local rivals Real Madrid.

PSV captain Luuk de Jong, who missed out on last year’s draw, will be present on the pitch for this Tuesday’s matchup and could be the difference maker that the Dutch champs missed so badly. PSV will also have Mexican internationals Andrés Guardado and Héctor Moreno at their services.

Match date/time: Tuesday 2:45pm EST, 8:45pm local

Venue: Philips Stadion, Eindhoven, Netherlands

TV: ESPN Deportes (US - Spanish), FOX Sports 2 Mexico (Mexico), Ziggo Sport Voetbal (Netherlands), Veronica TV (Netherlands), Ziggo Sport (Netherlands), Movistar+ (Spain), beIN Sports Spain (Spain)
