Liga Bancomer MX released their Team of the Week list for Week 8, rewarding some excellent performances from some of México’s best.
Goalkeepers and defenders: Federico Vilar from Tijuana stopped all six shots on goal that he faced from Monterrey on Saturday, leading Xolos to a 0-0 draw on the road. Necaxa’s left back Jairo González and right back Brayan Beckeles combined for Necaxa’s first goal against Santos in Necaxa’s 2-1 victory. Club América center back Pablo Aguilar scored the tying goal in América’s 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Cruz Azul. Club León center back Guillermo Burdisso contributed a goal in León’s 4-1 win over Atlas.
Midfield: Chivas right winger Isaác Brizuela picked up a goal and an assist in Chivas’ 2-1 win over Jaguares. Midfielder Javier Cortés scored a goal in Pumas’ 4-1 win over Querétaro on Sunday. Midfielder Guido Pizarro and left winger Javier Aquino each scored an unassisted goal in Tigres 2-0 victory over Monarcas Morelia.
Forwards and head coach: Toluca striker Fernando Uribe scored a goal in their 2-0 win over Puebla, while Club América striker Silvio Romero won Player of the Week due to his two goals against Cruz Azul. Pumas coach Francisco Paco Palencia was named Coach of the Week.
