Raul “Potro” Gutierrez begins Mexico’s Olympic gold medal defense with his trusted 4-4-2. As oppose to Mexico’s last friendly with Argentina, Potro adds a second forward in the form of Marco Bueno and decides for Michael Perez instead of Pachuca-hero Victor Guzman. Rodolfo Pizarro, who made a name of himself last season playing through the middle at Pachuca, returns to the right-wing where he started early in his career.
Meanwhile, Germany field their strongest lineup possible. The Germans have had only days to get ready for this competition, but there is more than enough talent in this team to watch them grow over this tournament. Much of the focus will be on the Bender brothers, but special mention has to go to the Schalke 04 duo of Max Meyer and Leon Goretza. The duo could very well be the future of Germany’s midfield.
You will be able to watch the game at 4pm EST on Telemundo and USA Network.
