RCD Espanyol have completed the signing of Mexico international Diego Reyes from FC Porto, the club confirmed on Wednesday. The move is a reported one-year loan with an option to buy.
Reyes, 23, joins the Barcelona-based club after impressing in a season-long loan at Real Sociedad last season.
The Mexican defender had previously established himself as one of Club America’s top players before making the move to FC Porto, where he struggled to get consistent minutes under manager Julen Lopetegui.
Reyes will now join up with his Mexico national team teammates for El Tri’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Honduras, but he should be available for Espanyol’s next league game against his former club Real Sociedad on September 9.
