Ascenso MX Recap: Jornada 7

Liga Ascenso is heating up, we recap this weekend’s action

Correcaminos - Leones Negros

Leones Negros stretched their undefeated run away from home to four games for the first time since Clasura 2013. The run was extended thanks to two first half goals by Isaac Romo; the first in the twenty-seventh minute and the second in the fortieth minute.

Venados - Toros Celaya

Venados were absolutely no match for Toros Celaya as they fell by a score of 5-0. Celaya dominated from the opening whistle through the 90th minute. Rodrigo Lopez opened the scoring in the 16th minute and there was no looking back as a deluge of goals were added by Celaya. The victory moves Toros into 2nd place in the Ascenso MX standings with 14 points.

Cimarrones - Lobos BUAP

Lobos BUAP took a commanding three goal lead in the sixty-fourth minute on a goal by Jorge Ibarra and then survived a frenzied comeback by Cimarrones FC to take all three points by a score of 3-2.

Zacatepec - Cafetaleros

Zacatepec came back from a one goal deficit early in the match and then added three more goals to top Cafetaleros at home. A last minute consolation goal by Julio Pardini did little other than lift the spirit of Cafetaleros fans who watched their team fall 4-2.

Loros - Jaiba Brava

Loros and Jaiba Brava battled bitterly to a 2-2 draw at Estadio Universitario de Colima. La Jaiba Brava must be the more disappointed of the two teams with the result of the match. Javier Delgado scored what looked to be the winning goal of the match in the eighty-fourth minute, but Loros snatched the equalizer at the death to split the points.

Alebrijes - Murcielagos

Alebrijes dominated all aspects of the game en route to a 4-1 victory over Murcielagos. With the dominant victory, los Alebrijes find themselves sitting atop the standings 16 points on the season.

FC Juarez - Potros UAEM

FC Juarez scored a pair of goals to grab all three points in a game marred by a lengthy weather delay. Leandro Carrijo opened the scoring in the eighteenth minute and Elson Dias put the game on ice with his first goal of the season in the eighty-eighth minute. The victory moves Juarez into the eighth and final liguilla position in the standings.

Atlante - Mineros

Atlante and Mineros drew 2-2 in Quintana Roo. Atlante should feel hard done by after taking the lead on two occasions and being unable to hang on for the victory in front of the home crowd.

Dorados - Coras

Dorados and Coras were some of the hottest teams at the start of the season. However, since then both teams have cooled off dramatically. This game merely served to illustrate the drop in form that both teams are experiencing at the moment. Neither side was able to get a winner and the match ended 1-1.
