It is Clásico Nacional week in Mexico. The Estadio Azteca is the place to be this weekend as Club America and Chivas face off in the Mexican capital.

Las Aguilas arrive to this match with several key players missing, but the real talking point within Ignacio Ambriz’s squad is the availability of Rubens Sambueza. The America midfielder picked up a red card in last week’s game against Puebla, but after a successful appeal, “Sambu” will likely get the start.

For Chivas, all eyes will be on youngsters Angel Zaldivar and Javier Eduardo “La Chofis” Lopez. The former was a surprise call-up in Juan Carlos Osorio’s Mexico squad for the World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Honduras and has scored three goals in his last two league matches. La Chofis, on the other hand, has done enough to bench the less-than-stellar Carlos Alberto “Gullit” Peña and has become a household name in recent months.

The last time these two met at the Azteca, Club America eliminated Chivas from the quarterfinals of the 2016 Liga MX Clausura. That said, revenge will undoubtedly be in Chivas mind. For America, a victory over their arch-rivals would only make their Centenary year even more memorable.
