After a great start to the 2016-2017 season, Chicharito will be out for a few weeks with a fractured hand suffered while falling down the stairs at his home. Surgery for the injury already took place Tuesday morning in Germany and it was deemed successful. It is a tough blow for Bayer Leverkusen as the club will kick off its Bundesliga season this weekend missing its starting striker. Normally, Kiessling would step into Chicharito’s spot but he has been suffering from back pain and might not be fit as well.
Blow for #Leverkusen! @CH14_ out for 2 weeks and misses start of the season.

This injury will also affect Mexico as they have 2 World Cup Qualifiers in September. Fortunately for El Tri, they are already through to the Hex and the games will not have an impact on their seeding. Although Chicharito was likely to get called up regardless, JCO will probably experiment during these 2 games. Bayer have said it will be a minimum of 2 weeks, look for Chicharito to be back after the international break.
In the mean time, I will be starting a Kickstarter to get one of these installed in Chicharito’s home (& every National Team player) to prevent future injuries.
