Week 3 of Liga MX had a little bit of everything and luckily, it wasn’t all at once. The schedule was a little more forgiving with games spread out over the weekend. Lets dive into the results.
Xolos vs Chivas
Queretaro vs Puebla
Monterrey vs Cruz Azul
Atlas vs Veracruz
Pachuca vs Necaxa
Club America vs Tigres
Pumas vs Leon
Chiapas vs Toluca
Santos vs Morelia
Player of The Week
Morelia and Santos closed out the weekend with a 6 goal thriller. 3 of those were scored by Raul Ruidiaz. The Peruvian international now has an impressive 4 goals in a little over 200 minutes this season for Morelia. This makes 3 hat tricks this season in Liga MX in 3 weeks, can the streak continue next weekend?
Flop of The Week
The Chivas backline share this week’s “award.” The back 4 was out of sync all night long against Xolos. Players were left unmarked in the box and the back 4 was constantly scrambling trying to cover everyone. Chivas were without usual starter Carlos Salcedo due to his Olympic duties. Their defense will need to improve as the offense was the big question going into the season. Through 3 games, they have only scored 1 goal. Help is on the way as a few players are coming off injuries but the Goats will need to tighten up in the back if they want to get into the liguilla.
What stood out to you in week 3?
