The Mexico-Under 23 team face one last test before travelling to Rio de Janeiro to defend their gold medal title as they take on Argentina at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc.
For Raul “Potro” Gutierrez’s side, the hope is high heading into the Rio Olympics. Naturally, the 2012 gold medal team is quite the act to follow for this young El Tri side, and in that sense, this creates a much more forgiving scenario entering this Olympic competition.
But make no mistake, this is still a talented squad, and much of Mexico’s Olympic medal hopes will be pinned on this Mexico team. Argentina provide the perfect final test before departing to the lend of Cariocas. Argentina have won the gold medal on two occasions, and while their federation is engulfed in several off the field issues, La Albiceleste are a side that can never be discounted.
