Chivas have announced the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Alejandro Zendejas from FC Dallas, the Rebaño Sagrado confirmed on their official website on Thursday.
Zendejas, who is a product of FC Dallas' youth academy, brandished plenty of interest from Matias Almeyda and his coaching staff following the 18-year-old's participation in the Copa Chivas back in January.
Touted as an "exciting prospect" by the Chivas website, Zendejas was a member of the United States U-17 national team that participated in the U-17 World Cup in Chile. In that regard, there is some controversy behind his signing due to Chivas' policy of only fielding Mexican players. Chivas, though, claim the midfielder was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and is eligible to play for the Mexico national team.
Zendejas is the fifth signing for Chivas ahead of the upcoming Liga MX Apertura, with Jose Juan "Gallito" Vazquez, Marco Bueno, Nestor Calderon, and Daniel Gonzalez also joining the team.
