Report: FC Barcelona eyeing Mexican defender Hector Moreno in Copa America

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Mexico national team defender Hector Moreno has reportedly drawn interest from FC Barcelona as technical secretary Robert Fernandez will be scouting the PSV Eindhoven player in the upcoming Mexico vs. Chile game, Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports.

Moreno, 28, is on a Barcelona shortlist of players for the Copa America Centenario, which includes the likes of Argentine defender Ramiro Funes Mori and Colombian midfielder Sebastian Perez.

Moreno signed for Dutch champions PSV last season, and was fundamental for coach Phillip Cocu in the 2015/2016 season, making 41 appearances and scoring six goals across all competitions .

In the past, Moreno has been linked with moves to Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, along with Serie A champions Juventus.

Hector Moreno is expected to start on Saturday for Mexico as El Tri take on Chile at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California for a place in the Copa America Centenario semifinals.
